I began the new series of ceramic trompe l'oeil birch trees as the snow was falling during the winter of 2008. They have been a blast to make and became extremely popular right from the beginning.

I premiered the work at the 2008 Smithsonian Craft Show. On the second day exhibitors cast ballots to select three of their colleagues for the Exhibitors' Choice Awards. I received the Bronze Award, which was quite a thrill as a first-time exhibitor.
